Twice a month you get insight into what matters right now - in your language, without technical gibberish and ChatGPT hot air. And without an invoice.
How I categorise what I find
Four steps. No black-and-white ‘pass/fail’ assessment. No 47-page matrix. Just enough detail to see where you stand and what you need to do about it.
-
BLIND SPOT
Don’t know
You feel that something is off but you cannot really name it. No visibility. No data. Just a gut feeling.
You cannot control what you can't see.
-
FRAGILE
Bleeding
Duct tape and luck. Something breaks every week. Survival mode. Every repair creates two new problems.
If the cow is sick, you can’t milk it.
-
FUNCTIONAL
Stable, but leaky
It works. Nobody panics. But you’re missing out on money. Invisible waste, hidden potential and things that nobody touches because the risk seems too great.
You are milking the cow - but with one hand only.

FORWARD
Building on our strengths
A solid foundation. Now we need to find out what’s possible and optimise/accelerate what’s already working. Now we’re polishing the diamond.
A healthy cow. Time to add more cows.
Most companies believe they are functioning properly. But in reality, they are fragile or operating in a blind spot. And they have never looked ahead, because they are too busy patching things up.
You hire a companyto obtain a certificate of ownership.
You hire me to take ownership of something that needs to be resolved or taken forward.
Skills without ownership = just another consultant with a PDF.
Ownership without skills = a bloke who stays late in the office without a clue what he’s supposed to be doing.
I bring both to every single project. Same tools, different results.
The difference is 20 years’ experience of knowing what to look for.
This is what my work looks like
70+ server infrastructure
The requirement was to build a comprehensive infrastructure based on open-source products that could offer the best balance between performance, reliability and cost.
For over 10 years now, I have been building and maintaining the infrastructure behind five European travel brands that sell in 16 countries.
Business impact: issues anticipated and servers replaced without customers even noticing. Built-in horizontal scalability to handle seasonal fluctuations.
Complex contract management system
Contracts were scattered across spreadsheets, email threads and people’s minds. Missed renewals. Incorrect terms. Money lost. Constant stress.
We developed a contract management system that gave them a single source of truth. No more missed deadlines, no more guesswork, no more lost revenue due to overlooked clauses.
Business impact: no more lost revenue due to overlooked contract terms and dozens of man-hours saved.
CTO/key person leaves the company
The key person in the technical department is leaving the company. No one understands the systems. Decisions are piling up. Every day without direction costs money.
Have done this more than 5 times. First success typically within a week. Operationally competent within 2–3 weeks. Stabilises, documents, hands over to a permanent employee – or remains on a fixed fee.
Business impact: operational continuity within 1 week instead of months of chaos.
Pricing Calculator
A simple replacement for a cumbersome and confusing price calculation tool that made preparing quotes a laborious and time-consuming process.
I developed a price calculation tool that followed the specifications and proposals to the letter, reducing development time by 70 per cent. Faster response times, more quotations issued.
Automated ordering system
Manual order processing during peak season. Staff were copying and pasting between systems, errors occurred every day, and they were working overtime every week.
I developed an ordering bot that replaced the entire manual process. This saved two full-time positions during the peak season. No manual errors. Still running.
Sales Commission System
Commissions were calculated manually. Incorrect payments every cycle. Disagreements between the sales and finance departments. No one trusted the figures.
I developed a commission system providing a real-time overview of sales. The number of errors fell to zero. This saved one full-time position. The sales team could finally see their own pipeline and targets – and began to meet them.
Invoicing system – Regulatory compliance + new revenue
Invoicing was working, but compliance with regulations was manual and cumbersome. It was impossible to add new payment providers without overhauling half the system.
I rebuilt the invoicing layer. Regulatory compliance was automated. The customer saved one full-time position in manual processing. This opened the door to new payment providers – which meant new markets and new sources of revenue that didn’t exist before.
Limited capacity
The infrastructure was incorrectly configured across several layers. Technically, they were capable of selling much more, but were operating at only 30–40 per cent of capacity, with massive outages costing them revenue.
All bottlenecks were identified and resolved. Full capacity was unlocked within budget. Downtime is rare, and they have migrated to the cloud.
